The Mayor of Bristol, George Furguson visited Stockwood last month to discuss the issues older people face in the area. As part of his visit he wanted to experience a successful activity running in the area and so he visited a local LinkAge group.
What better group to visit than LinkAge’s Stockwood Happy Notes where the Mayor joined the 30 strong choir for a few familiar renditions after having a quick chat to everyone about their motivations for joining the group and the positive things they gain from singing their hearts out on a weekly basis.
With this visit and the recent LinkAge Taster Day that took place last week, Stockwood, which is normally a quiet leafy suburb, has been flurry of activity and it is nice to see this sometimes forgotten area of Bristol get the spotlight for once.
The Stockwood Happy Notes choir meets every Tuesday from 1pm – 2:30pm at Christ The Servant Church, Stockwood Road, BS14 8SP. All abilities and experience are welcome. It is a fun and friendly group taught by professional singing teacher, Rachael Coulson. Just turn up or call 0117 971 5873 for details.
