Take a look at the new Whitchurch and Hengrove community activities leaflet, created by local activists from the Churches Together Group, with support from LinkAge Network and Bristol Ageing Better.
Our South Bristol Community Development Coordinator Magda Kowalik-Malcolm, helped to launch the leaflet at the Whitchurch Fete earlier this week, and the launch was met with lots of positive feedback.
When people at the Fete were asked what they thought about getting to know new people and opportunities in their community they said,
It’s important because it stops you staying in and doing nothing all day.
It give’s you more of a sense of a community.
It’s nice to know people and help them if they need it. Also, it stops you feeling lonely.
It’s really important for a sense of belonging and support network.
The more people you know, the better. It helps with depression”.
Within the leaflet you will find lots of information on local activities and community groups for people over 50, as well as local facilities that people can access. Click here for your copy or call LinkAge Network on 0117 353 3042.
