Booking is now open for our 2019 Post-Retirement Opportunities events! These events are designed to offer those approaching retirement, recently retired, or facing redundancy, the chance to discover more about the opportunities and advice available to them, explore and share ideas, hear from those with lived experience of retirement, and meet and socialise with people at a similar stage in life.
The 2019 programme will see our successful fairs coming to East Bristol and Avonmouth, whilst a series of workshops will focus specifically on volunteering, health & wellbeing, and working in later life.
The fairs will feature guest speakers, workshops, and information stalls, showcasing the wide range of opportunities and advice on offer in and around Bristol, across the areas of money, work, volunteering, learning, leisure and health & wellbeing.
The Volunteering in Retirement workshop will give attendees the chance to find out more about becoming a volunteer or trustee – what is involved, the benefits, and how to find the right opportunity. It will feature local volunteer stories, an exhibition of Harbourside volunteer portraits by photographer Sarah Robbins, and lots of information on where and how to find volunteering opportunities in and around Bristol. The event will be held onboard the MV Balmoral, a 1949 passenger ship, currently docked in Bristol whilst she undergoes extensive upgrading and managed entirely by volunteers!
Active Retirement, delivered in partnership with Wesport and Active Ageing Bristol, will focus on keeping fit and healthy in retirement, with a guest speaker, information stalls, and the opportunity to try out some activities!
Working in Later Life will focus on how and where to find work, self-employment, and re-training opportunities. We will be joined for the evening by Denise Taylor, award-winning Career Coach and author of Find Work at 50+.
