On Tuesday 20th October around 150 health walkers came together from across Bristol to meet, walk and talk for the Walking for Health partnership walk 'Out and About in Hengrove'.
LinkAge's Hengrove walkers were among the many walking groups that attended, with Henbury and Westbury walkers coming all the way from North West Bristol by bus and Brislington Twalkers, Walk Out (LGBT), Lockleaze and Horfield, Wild Walks for Wellbeing, St George, The Downs and Stockwood travelling to Hengrove Park Leisure Centre.
Nicola Ferris, Health Walks Developer spoke to a Westbury walk who said that it was well worth the 1.5 hour bus trip. She had heard about Hengrove Airfield but had never visited it before, and so it was a great opportunity to pick up leaflets and find out more.
LinkAge walkers Janet and Dennis Bishop said, "We were warmly welcomed and offered drinks by the organisers as we arrived. We were given small talks on the three walks, so we could decide which would be the best suited to us. We have a very pleasant walk chatting amd mixing with numerous members from different walking groups, followed by refreshments and a social chat and to top it off we had beautiful weather. We are looking forward to the next one."
LinkAge walk leader Bob Harris said, "A good turn out with lots of old friends, just like the old days. Keep up the good work."
Thank you to Walking for Health, for allowing us to get involved in such a fantastic walk and we cannot wait to see what's next in the future.
