LinkAge Network is hosting three workshops in February and March 2020 which will support people aged 50+ plan for and manage the shift into the next phase of their lives.
According to a 2017 YouGov poll commissioned by the Centre for Ageing Better, one in five recently-retired adults admitted to finding the process difficult. Putting time in to plan and think about how you want your life to look can make it an easier and more fulfilling process.
The three workshops are priced at £25 each and will cover:
- planning for retirement, which will focus on exploring priorities and desires for later life and arm you with the tools to get you there
- finances and legal matters, which is an introductory session to reviewing your finances and legal documents
- good health, which will take a holistic look at what good health in later life looks like
Jo Stokes, CEO of LinkAge Network said: “Retirement is a major transition in life and yet there is a lack of support out there to help people navigate this time.
Our Post-Retirement Opportunities (PRO) workshops offer the opportunity to gather the information needed to help plan for a happy and fulfilling retirement in a social and informal setting. Whether you intend to continue to work or not, these workshops are relevant to everyone at this stage of life.”
As well as being a transition that comes with practical and financial changes, retirement can be a potential source of social isolation and loneliness in later life.
The report ‘Retirement transitions in later life’ by the Centre for Ageing Better found 41% of people approaching retirement had concerns about money, with 32% worried about missing social connections and 24% concerned about losing their purpose.
And yet, more than half (56%) of those who had retired in the last five years admitted they had done little to prepare for it.
If you’re 50+ and thinking about the next stage of life, book onto one of our retirement planning workshops which will equip you with some of the tools, information and insight needed to start preparing for retirement, while providing the opportunity to meet and socialise with people at a similar stage in life.
