BS3 Community have been working with Bristol Dementia Alliance to try to make Bristol the first Dementia Friendly City in the UK.
The current focus of the campaign is on supporting local retailers in BS3, south Bristol to understand the signs and symptoms of dementia and make their shops and cafes dementia friendly.
The charity is offering FREE training to retail and hospitality staff to giving businesses the information they need to feel confident in welcoming those living with dementia. After the short and informative session lapel badges are awarded to the ‘dementia friends’ and outlets receive a ‘We are a Dementia Friendly store’ for display in shop windows, to demonstrate to local residents living with dementia and/or their carers, that they are very welcome.
