On Wednesday 15th June, LinkAge held our first Walk Leaders Conference at Burges Salmon in Bristol.
LinkAge’s Walk Leaders voluntarily run 11 walking groups for over 55’s across the city. The conference was a great opportunity for those involved to meet other walk leaders and find out useful information that will support them within their role.
On the day we were joined by speakers Stuart Riddle, Walking for Health Training and Quality Assurance Officer and Gill Brooks, BCC Health Improvement Projects Manager, who led the groups through a number of discussions and exercises. The day also saw presentations from LinkAge’s Marketing and Communications Officer Hannah Somers and Operations Manager Debbie Wills.
The walk leaders were then taken on a walk led by LinkAge staff, before tucking into a buffet lunch which was kindly supplied by Burges Salmon.
From multiple feedback that we have received from the conference, it's clear to see that our first conference was a success with walk leaders Ricky, Pat and Julie saying, “We would like to thank Linkage for a most informative and interesting morning last week. All the speakers were very engaging and the venue was fantastic. We all enjoyed our walk before lunch which gave us an appetite for the lovely food which was provided. All the staff at Burges Salmon were very helpful and welcoming. We were talking about it today on our walk and we all agreed it was a morning well spent.”
LinkAge would like to thank Burges Salmon for their support and generosity in hosting the conference.
