On Tuesday 15th December, the Whitehall and St George hub hosted a Christmas lunch at the Beehive Centre for 63 local older people.
A three course classic Christmas dinner was served to a total of 63 LinkAge participants. The hubs faithful volunteers made all participants feel welcome, ensuring all of their needs were catered for on the day. After the main dinner had been served, the older people were treated to a coffee and chocolates whilst listening to a back drop of Christmas songs.
The lunch was swiftly followed by an exciting raffle, full of goodies and a game of pass the parcel (which of course had its hiccups). We were then joined by the fantastic John Pendlington, who led an hour of carols and Christmas themed songs. Shakers and tambourines were handed out in mass and soon the music filled the space in the centre. ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ turned out to be the biggest hit with the group, with many getting up on their feet and dancing along with much merriment.
We would like to thank our brilliant volunteers and the chefs, for all their hard work on the day. We would also like to thank the John James Trust for funding the lunch, allowing us to really make this day extra special for our older people.
