It was only 5 weeks ago that we were preparing to kick start the Summer of Age 2015, and here we are now, already looking back at what was without a doubt our best summer of activities for all ages to date.
LinkAge participant, Advisory Group member and walk leader, Barbara Franco, opened up her beautiful garden earlier this month to raise money for LinkAge.
What a busy week we’ve had here at LinkAge and we are now into our fourth week of the Summer of Age. An iTea4u session in Easton kicked off the jam-packed few days with over 30 people attending.
Last week Shelagh Hetreed, LinkAge’s BME Elders Groups Sustainability Development Worker, met with 6 Somali Elders whose greatest wish was to learn English.
Last week the England Cricket team were celebrating winning the Ashes – this week as we reach the half way point of the Summer of Age programme we also had reason to celebrate…reaching 430 attendances!

On Friday 17th July the Macmillan Prevention and Re-enablement project was officially launched at the University Hospital Bristols Training and Education Centre. One of the highlights was a film featuring some of the amazing older people who take part in LinkAge activities who either have cancer themselves or are caring for a cancer patient.
The Summer of Age has officially launched with support from Middletons. On Tuesday 28th July we had 67 people taking part in Summer of Age activities
LinkAge volunteer Margaret and our very own Henbury Community Development Worker Suewan Kemp went down to Spike Island in Bristol last week for a skill sharing day with BBC Radio Bristol.
