On Saturday 28th November, The Henbury Centre held its first ever Christmas Fayre with over 100 people attending. Stallholders could be seen selling beautiful homemade crafts and stocking fillers, Frozen’s Elsa was busy face painting, Father Christmas and Mr Snowman had their very own grotto and LinkAge volunteers ran a refreshments and bric-a-brac stall.

On Tuesday 1st December, LinkAge were asked to join the international debate on loneliness by Al Jezeera TV’s, The Stream. Bob Harris, LinkAge Advisory Group member, walk leader, volunteer and participant was one of four cyber guests on the show.

Local Henbury resident Grace Holmes used to live a very isolated life and would spend days not leaving her home. Now two years on after taking part in LinkAge’s ACE Project, she is actively invovled in her community attending Line Dancing, New Age Kurling and even running her own Monthly Coffee Morning.

On Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th November, LinkAge held its first film and photography workshop, based on the Restorative Approach. The two day workshop saw 2 older people and 5 younger people work together to recreate photographs, that show the Bristol Docks and the City Centre then and now.

Earth Champions have recently produced a short film showcasing eight of the many sectors who work in Bristol. The film highlights the different ways that organisations are supporting the environment, whether it’s by saving species from extinction, cycling to save the planet or fashion and upcycling.

LinkAge were thrilled to be invited to take part in a panel discussion on how do we support mental health as well as physical health on the Health Day during the Festival of the Future City.

It isn’t just Bristol that is looking at Ageing Better. With ageing populations and people living longer, ageing well has soon become a hot topic across Europe and so LinkAge were asked to join the debate in Hamburg.

Tuesday 17th November was a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious night at the theatre, for 95 of our LinkAge participants. The multi award-winning Mary Poppins dazzled the audience at Bristol Hippodrome, and laughter, cheering and singing could be heard from the over 55 crowd in the Grand Circle.

Baubles and angels were the creation of last weeks Treefest workshop in Redcliffe, with eight older people attending to create masterpieces for this year’s event.
