Community Development Coordinator for Central and East Bristol, Wendy Harris, has worked with residents and local groups from Speedwell over the last few months to plan a Big Picnic in the Park, bringing the local community together.
Thanks to the dream team from Smiles Matter Community Group, Sovereign Housing, the Children’s Centre, Children’s Scrapstore and Meadowvale Community Centre, over 80 people came along to picnic, play and get creative at the event, which took place on Saturday 13th July.
Cllr Steve Pearce and local police officers and community support officers attended to support the event.
Ideas from the community were gathered on the day, ranging from more sport and creative activities for all ages, to more events happening in the park. LinkAge Network will be working together with the local community to take the next steps forward to improve activity in Speedwell.
