On Thursday 30th June and Thursday 7th July, over 100 older people enjoyed an afternoon of sightseeing, cream teas and entertainment on LinkAge’s Tower Belle Cruise to Beese’s Tea Garden.
The Tower Belle Cruise to Beese’s Tea Garden was a great opportunity for existing and new participants from Shirehampton, Hengrove, Knowle West, Avonmouth and Barton Hill, to come together and meet other LinkAgers.
On both days we were lucky with the weather, with the sun shining when the boats set sail from the Wapping Wharf. Participants passed the Waterfront and Welsh Back, Castle Park where St Mary-le-port Church was rebuilt and the resident peregrines. They also passed several herons at Crew Hole and the Grade 2 listed Troopers Hill Chimney, before arriving at Beese’s Tea Garden where they enjoyed the selection of lunches and cream teas that were on offer.
Once appetites had been satisfied, participants made their way back onto the boat where they were entertained by the Kooky Uke’s. With songs of different genres and eras playing, the participants were truly entertained on the journey back to the Wapping Wharf.
We would like to thank everyone who helped to make the day the success that it was.
