On Wednesday 17th February, Bristol Grammar School held a Community Friendship Lunch for 70 older people.
LinkAge participants from the Hengrove, Knowle and Filwood areas of Bristol, were invited to attend the afternoon of entertainment and delicious food, organised by Bristol Grammar School staff, as part of their Outreach Wellbeing Afternoon.
The afternoon was a great opportunity for over 55’s to meet other LinkAge participants from surrounding local areas. By the end of the afternoon, many had made new friends, with plans to meet up again after the event.
After a delicious two course meal, the fun began, with live music, bingo, a free raffle and endless dancing. The fun-filled afternoon ended perfectly, with a spot of afternoon tea and homemade cake.
The feedback we’ve received from those who attended on the day, couldn’t have been more positive, with everyone saying how much of a brilliant time they’d had.
“It’s so lonely living on your own, sometimes you don’t see anyone all day and now I’ve come here, made friends and joined a walking group and I’m so happy.”
"My friend said it was like you had unlocked the door to her jail. She felt 20 years younger."
“Thank you to the staff of Bristol Grammar school for our special afternoon. We all enjoyed ourselves and made new friends during the time we ate our meal and experienced such good musical entertainment.”
‘It was fabulous; we couldn’t have been treated more kindly or with more respect. The room was beautifully decorated and the food was cooked to perfection. It meant so much.’
‘We made 2 lovely new friends and have swapped numbers.’
“I had a brilliant time. The staff were brilliant, excellent food and amazing company. You all worked so hard for us and it was extremely appreciated by us all.”
LinkAge would like to thank Bristol Grammar School, for all their hard work in making the day the success that it was.
